From the Team in Palm Beach County, FL...

“This isn’t a place where you come to fix your child. It’s a place where you come to help your child understand what drives her, what can help her and how she can help herself. It’s such a different angle to come at. It’s not there’s something wrong with you we’re going to fix you. No there’s something great about you, and you have to understand it and you have to know how to live with it and how to get through your difficulties. But it will make you better and stronger.”

About Parkland, FL

Parkland, FL

Parkland, FL is an affluent suburban city located in Broward County, approximately 24 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale. Known for its expansive parks, equestrian trails, and gated communities, Parkland has cultivated an environment that places a premium on family life and community engagement. The city boasts a high-performing public school system and various recreational spaces, making it an attractive choice for families looking for a peaceful, yet connected lifestyle. With zoning laws that restrict commercial development, the city offers a retreat from urban hustle while still being close to larger metropolitan areas like Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

The demographics of Parkland are diverse but tend toward upper-middle-class families. Many parents are professionals, often working in industries like finance, healthcare, and technology. The educational standards are high, and the city has a sense of collective investment in the well-being of its children.

In this tight-knit community, mental health is an increasingly recognized issue, particularly among young people. The city still grapples with the aftermath of the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, which has made mental health a particularly poignant concern for residents. Conditions like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder are topics of ongoing community conversation and action, with a growing infrastructure of support and treatment options being developed to address these challenges.
