Join Center for Discovery and Anxiety Institute to examine the relationship between Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Eating Disorders (ED).

This one-hour webinar will examine the relationship between Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Eating Disorders (ED), including comorbidity, distinctive features, and overlapping treatment modalities. Individuals will learn about the clinical similarities and differences between OCD and ED, as well as learn how to make an accurate differential diagnosis for clients presenting with disordered eating.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the overlapping features and shared mechanisms between Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Eating Disorders.
  • Identify the key differences and unique characteristics that distinguish OCD and Eating Disorders, such as the specific obsessions and compulsions in OCD versus the disordered eating behaviors and body image concerns in Eating Disorders.
  • Gain insights into the clinical implications of the comorbidity between OCD and Eating Disorders, including diagnostic challenges, treatment considerations, and the importance of a multidisciplinary approach in addressing both conditions concurrently.

Marissa is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the states of Florida, Georgia, and Virginia. She completed two graduate degrees from Oklahoma State University, one in counseling and a second in health care administration. During graduate school Marissa started working with the eating disorder population as psych tech, and from their advanced to various roles such as therapist, supervisor of an independent living program, Program Director, Regional Director, and now Regional Vice President with Center for Discovery. Marissa is currently the Regional Vice President for Center for Discovery’s locations in Florida, Georgia, Texas, and Illinois. Marissa is a certified eating disorder specialist and supervisor with additional advanced training in modalities such as interpersonal psychotherapy and is a certified trauma professional.
