Joanna Fanuko is an MSW Candidate at Columbia University School of Social Work specializing in Advanced Clinical Practice with a focus on Health, Mental Health, and Disabilities. Prior to joining Anxiety Institute, Joanna was a Social Work Intern at Silver Hill Hospital where she conducted biopsychosocial assessments and facilitated Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills and psychoeducation groups. Joanna specializes in using holistic and trauma-informed approaches with adolescents and young adults and is a certified yoga instructor with an RYT-200-hour credential.
In her spare time, Joanna enjoys jogging, hiking with her partner and dog, practicing yoga, and reading. Joanna finds being in nature and taking mindful walks not only reduce stress, but they allow her to find gratitude for all that is in the world around us.
Her Inspiration:
When I was in college, I struggled with stress and anxiety related to trauma. The social workers there guided me through the process of healing and I was able to overcome the mental health challenges. I knew then that I would give others the gifts of support that were offered to me.
