COVID–19 will have a lasting impact on us as a population. This is especially felt by adolescents, who were asked to relearn life as they know it. One of the biggest questions at this time is how they will do with transitioning back to in person learning, and more important, what can we do to help?

  • Understand and identify typical executive functioning challenges surrounding the return to school
  • Identify ways to cope and adjust with the return to a school setting from virtual/hybrid learning
  • Better understand reasons for common academic and developmental regression related to the pandemic

Dr. Evan Flamenbaum, MA, DSW

Head of School of Academic West and co-founder of Therapy West

He holds a doctorate in clinical social work as well as an MA in school counseling. Dr. Flamenbaum is an advocate for children, adolescents and young adults to experience mental health and academic issues. He holds a doctorate in clinical social work as well as an MA in school counseling. As a former Dean of Students at a prestigious private school, He used his clinical knowledge to help students stay in school during periods of difficult psychological adjustment. As the current Head of School of Academic West and co-founder of Therapy West, Dr. Flamenbaum continues To integrate his clinical knowledge and background in education to train and guide professionals and parents. He is a nationally recognized lecturer and considered an expert on the treatment of learning issues and ADHD. Dr. Flamenbaum also co-created Clinically Informed Academics (CIA), a research based model providing a framework to improve the overall functioning of students socially, emotionally, and educationally.
