OCD Building Blocks: Intermediate ERP Training

Nov 6th, 13th, 20th & Dec 4th

This 4-part series builds on foundational knowledge of exposure response prevention (ERP) for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), diving deeper into practical techniques and concepts to enhance treatment efficacy. Participants will refine their ERP skills while learning to address more complex client presentations and integrate additional therapeutic models. Key topics include reducing familial accommodation, creating tailored exposures (cognitive and interoceptive), applying inhibitory learning models, and adding acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) into ERP treatment.

This training is designed for clinicians who have completed the ERP Foundations course or have a basic understanding of ERP and are looking to expand their expertise. The course consists of four 1-hour live Zoom sessions, focusing on the practical application of advanced ERP techniques for OCD treatment. CE credits are available for mental health professionals, including psychologists, therapists, counselors, and social workers.

Learning Objectives

  • Educate families about OCD and engage them in reducing accommodation behaviors.
  • Differentiate between habituation and inhibitory learning, applying these concepts effectively in therapy.
  • Integrate ACT principles into ERP to improve outcomes for clients with OCD.

Weekly Course Breakdown:

Session 1: Family involvement in OCD, reducing accommodation, and psychoeducation for parents
Session 2: Managing cognitive compulsions and interoceptive exposures
Session 3: Fear models and the inhibitory learning approach
Session 4: Integrating ACT with ERP and increasing patient willingness to engage in treatment

Each session will include case studies and time for Q&A, allowing participants to explore real-life challenges and apply what they’ve learned to their clinical practice.
