Our Work at Anxiety Institute
Anxiety Institute offers specialized anxiety and OCD treatment using an advanced model of care for adolescents and young adults suffering from moderate to severe anxiety.
The Anxiety Institute intensive treatment model, comprised of 10 hours of individual care each week, is unique among anxiety treatment centers and is complemented by 10 hours of wellness and group therapy.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Director, this is an exempt, full-time position. The clinician will join our multidisciplinary clinical team who value measurement-based care delivered by genuine, compassionate, and empathetic clinicians.
This position is responsible for providing up to 5 hours of direct client treatment per day, developing treatment plans, collaborating with peers, and interfacing and coaching families to facilitate recovery for our clients.
The successful candidate will have extensive training in CBT, have an affinity for working with adolescents and young adults, be licensed (or license eligible) in Virginia, exhibit a track-record of clinical success, and thrive working with a team of dedicated professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide up to 25 hours a week of direct client treatment for anxiety and related disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and trauma related disorders.
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and evidence-based treatment to children, adolescents, and young adults with anxiety disorders, including patients with comorbid mood disorders.
- Conduct family-based interventions with parents/caregivers and implement strategies for fearful and resistant clients and parents related to attendance, commitment, and completion of treatment.
- Collaborate with our board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist on cases requiring pharmacotherapy.
- Provide community education and support marketing/outreach by conducting trainings, attending regional and/or clinical conferences, writing articles for publication, etc.
- Acquire and maintain current clinical knowledge, skills, and standards set forth by the Anxiety & Depression Association of America (ADAA) and the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF).
- Up to 28 hours a week of direct client treatment to adolescents and young adults with anxiety and related disorders such as obsessive-compulsive behavior and trauma-related disorders.
- No on-call responsibilities.
Specialized Training
Anxiety Institute trains all of its therapists in a state-of-the-art Exposure and Response Prevention therapy (ERP) model, which utilizes evidence-based cognitive science and learning theory across a 20-hour/week intensive treatment program.
In addition to Exposure Response Prevention therapy, all Anxiety Institute therapists are intensively trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Training includes:
- 40+ hour formal training program
- Up to 4 weeks of shadowing treatment prior to taking clinical cases
Graduated application of ERP in cases, starting with ERP behavioral coaching and graduating to a lead clinician position - Supervision including 2-3 weekly sessions to collaborate with peers and meet with direct manager
- 10+ hours/year key topic training provided to all clinicians
- Anxiety Institute currently has operations in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Virginia.
Qualifications
- Applicants must be an LPC, LSW, LCSW or psychologist. Licensed (or license eligible) in the State of New Jersey.
- A minimum of 2 years of individual, group and family therapy experience with school/college aged individuals and their parents.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups. - Flexible thinking with the ability to work with challenging cases in a fast-paced environment.
- Preference will be given to those with experience/proficiency using ERP protocols for OCD, and/or those who have a personal understanding for anxiety disorders and a professional passion for its treatment.
- Affinity to work with school/college aged individuals and their parents.
