BA, University of Colorado Boulder // Clinical Mental Health Counseling Candidate, The George Washington University
Isadora “Izzy” Gallanar is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at The George Washington University. Izzy has trained in a variety of behavioral health settings, including providing individual therapy at GWU’s Community Counseling Services Center and working in eating disorder and dual-diagnosis programs at the inpatient, residential, outpatient, and group levels of care. Izzy has also held roles with The Emily Program, the Kirsten Haglund Foundation, and the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders (ANAD), and she is currently involved in developing an orthorexia assessment tool for adolescents and young adults.
Izzy is excited to continue developing her clinical skills through an integrative training perspective, informed by relational cultural theory (RCT) and evidence-based practices such as the Unified Protocol (UP) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). She is especially interested in learning how to support clients in ways that feel collaborative, compassionate, and individualized.
Her Inspiration:
Throughout my internship experiences, I have witnessed both the beauty and hardship of recovery and healing. The privilege of walking alongside clients during their journey has inspired me to dedicate my career to helping others, having seen firsthand how meaningful it is to feel seen, be vulnerable, and live authentically.
