Katie Grimes, MA, ATR-P

Art Therapist

BA, Harrington College // MA, Saint Mary of the Woods College

Katie Grimes has experience working as a Creative Arts Therapist with clients of all ages across a variety of clinical and therapeutic settings. Her work includes art therapy with military-connected youth and families, supporting older adults experiencing memory care needs, as well as adults living with PTSD and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). She uses creative, experiential, and collaborative approaches—including unconventional materials—to help clients explore emotions, develop coping skills, build resilience, and foster connection.

Outside of work, Katie enjoys making art, experimenting with new materials and techniques, hiking, cross-country travel and camping with her dog. She values creativity, curiosity, and connection with nature as pathways to presence, self-discovery, and growth.

Her Inspiration:

During difficult times in adolescence, I often struggled to feel heard and found it difficult to put my emotions into words. Art became my safe place and gave me a voice when I felt silenced, allowing me to express emotions I could not always say aloud—letting my art speak for me. That shaped my desire to help others discover the healing power of creative expression and to create a safe space where they feel seen, heard, and understood. As Pam Holland said, “Art speaks where words are unable to explain.” My experiences have shown me that creative expression can communicate what we sometimes struggle to put into words.
