BA, Fairleigh Dickinson University // Clinical Mental Health Counseling Candidate, Fairleigh Dickinson University
Ryan Falkowski is a second-year Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He joined Anxiety Institute after working at the FDU Florham Campus COMPASS Program, where he supported undergraduate students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
At COMPASS, Ryan drew on his previous experience as a head camp counselor and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist to provide individual and group counseling services as well as academic support for undergraduate students. These experiences strengthened his commitment to advocacy and tailored support for neurodiverse populations.
Ryan’s clinical training is rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), developed through his counseling with young children and expanded through his work with college-aged students with ASD. He is excited to continue developing his skills in motivational interviewing (MI), existential therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
His Inspiration:
Throughout my adolescence, I struggled with anxiety and depression, and connecting with a therapist helped me recognize the benefits of counseling and finally experience relief. Witnessing similar challenges among those around me, including the children and young adults, has inspired me to help others find that same sense of relief.
